Adapting Exercise Science to Life
Being able to achieve an athletic goal is not about blindly following rules such as:
"Train three days per week."
"Rest exactly two days."
"Do this program for twelve weeks."
If everyone followed the exact same structure in terms of training days, hours, exercises and recovery, everyone would still get different results.
Why?
Because we are all genetically different.
We have different bodies, different recovery abilities, different strengths and different weaknesses.
And even if someone is making progress following a training program blindly, they haven't developed their mind.
Only their athletic performance.
The mistake many people make is copying the structure without understanding the principle behind it.
Let's take physical exercise as an example.
There are really only two fundamental concepts in a high intensity training philosophy.
Whether you are a sprinter, a bodybuilder, or an athlete in any other field.
The first is:
Train correctly - Train hard enough and long enough to create a stimulus that forces your body to adapt. The goal is to create the correct amount of stress that forces improvement.
The second is:
Recover correctly - Recover for as long as your body needs until it can tolerate a higher level of intensity or load than it could before.
Then repeat.
That is the fundamental concept behind physical development.
The structure can change. The amount of days can change. The exercises can change.
But the principle stays the same.
Apply the same concept to your life.
Look at the fundamental equation behind everything that matters.
What is the fundamental concept behind making money?
Study that.
What is the fundamental concept behind building relationships?
Study that.
What is the fundamental concept behind networking?
Study that.
What is the fundamental concept behind becoming healthy and happy?
Study that.
The goal is NOT to blindly copy another person's life.
Because even if you're successful by copying someone else, you can't replicate that in other domains of life. You become a slave to something that benefits you but you don't understand.
You are not supposed to live exactly like someone else by default.
And no one is supposed to live exactly like you by default.
The goal is to understand the mechanics behind what works, based on the principles that govern reality, and then adapt yourself to those principles to manifest a positive outcome.
This is why being able to study effectively and think effectively is so important.
If you can study effectively and think effectively, you give yourself the ability to solve almost any problem you face.
