Aligning With Perception

Make sure the perception others have of you aligns with how you actually interact with them.

Forget about performing the self you imagine yourself to be.

When you interact with others, communicate in a way that is true to who you actually are right now.

As you grow, your actions will slowly align with who you are becoming anyway.

The gap between who you are and who you want to be closes naturally through genuine development, not through performance.

Acting in x-way before you are x-person actually hinders progress.

Let yourself look a bit stupid if you actually are stupid.

It is better than trying to appear smart.

And if you don't want to come across as stupid, make sure you actually aren't stupid to begin with.

People can smell who you truly are, not what you imagine yourself to be.

A 25 year old who tells a client he will work from 7am to 9pm to make sure they are happy comes across as hungry, ambitious and genuine.

The client thinks "I like this guy!"

But a 45 year old with kids and a wife saying the same thing might make the client think "I appreciate it, but does this guy not have a family to go home to?"

Same words.

Completely different perception.

Keep this in mind as you go through life.
